Ollie is a western screech owl who suffered head trauma resulting in the loss of sight in his right eye while living in the wilds of western Oregon. Ollie has lived at the High Desert Museum in Bend, Oregon since 2005. The Center decided to give Ollie a new home after the death of "Blink", our popular eastern screech owl who delighted visitors for over five years.

Ollie has fit right into life here at the Center and has been a popular addition to the bird-of-prey program. The education department has developed special owl programs using Ollie and great-horned owl Tegan.

Western screech owls are highly nocturnal and may spend the entire day in their nest cavity. These owls are common in open woodlands, streamside groves, desert, suburban areas and parks in western North America. Their diet varies regionally and includes rodents, arthropods, amphibians, reptiles and even fish.
